I found this quote in Lillian Brummet’s newsletter, but I’m not sure I agree.

For example, I don’t think that having a bed to sleep on reduces my freedom one bit. Sure, if people become more enamored of possessions than they are of living beings, like people or animals, they are trading in their souls for material objects, however, desiring the basic necessities doesn’t mean trading in one’s freedom.
