I like to play around on a word website called Word Dynamo and ran into an interesting list of eponyms, which are words that are derived from a real or mythical person’s name. Another definition is that eponyms are people or things, whether real or fictitious, after which a particular place, tribe, era, discovery, or other item is named or thought to be named.
Some I had never known are:
André-Marie Ampère — ampere — unit of electric current, Ampère’s law
Amelia Bloomer (1818–1894) — bloomers
Captain Charles Cunningham Boycott (1832–1897) — boycott
