In 1845, Sarah Mather received a patent for the invention of a combination submarine telescope and lamp. This was a remarkable device that permitted sea-going vessels to survey the depths of the ocean.

  1. I look forward to hearing about these inspirational women. I too am a women inventor- invented the Eraser Caps for dry erase markers then went on to build a line of communication products for the classroom- Now we are “Putting the Paddle Back in the Classroom” in a good way! I hope I will make it in the books one day as an inspirational inventor!
