by Diane Tegarden
For those of you who don’t believe,
I shed a silent tear.
But if you will allow me,
I’ll share the joy this time of year.
I rise to a beautiful morn,
the creatures are astir.
I squint into a dazzling sun,
in awe at the sweet, soft murmur.
The people seem slightly happier,
even though, they still toil.
For some, our eyes have witnessed war,
right here on our home soil.
Especially for this reprieve,
I recognize the birth.
For those of you safe in your home,
Believe it, there is peace on Earth.
